Rockland is the only location where you have a real choice: a dedicated dog photography studio or outdoor locations with professional-grade natural light.
Studio Sessions
The studio at 83 E Water St Unit E328 is quiet, controlled, and designed for dogs. Multiple backdrops, professional lighting, props for holidays and birthdays. Ideal for dogs who get overwhelmed outside, for seasonal sessions where consistent backgrounds matter, and for any dog whose owner wants a polished, portrait-style look.

- ✓ Backyard sessions at your home available

Rockland Dog Photography — FAQ
Where is South Shore Pet Photography located in Rockland?
The studio is at 83 E Water St Unit E328 in Rockland, MA 02370 — just a few minutes from Route 3. Studio sessions happen right here in Rockland. For outdoor sessions, I use Rockland Memorial Park, nearby conservation trails, and locations throughout the South Shore.
Do you do outdoor sessions in Rockland or just studio?
Both. The studio at 83 E Water St Unit E328 is great for controlled lighting, fun backdrops, and dogs who do better in a quieter environment. Outdoor sessions in and around Rockland work well for energetic dogs who need space to move. For the most dramatic outdoor scenery, we can head to Hingham, Scituate, or Norwell — all within 20 minutes and included in the session fee.
What is the Rockland studio like for dog photography?
The studio is designed for dogs. Quiet, controlled, with removable backdrops in several colors. Good for dogs who get overwhelmed outside, for birthday sessions with props, and for holiday photos where consistent backgrounds matter. Dogs who are nervous about strangers actually do better in the studio because there's nothing unexpected happening — no other dogs, no cyclists, no unpredictable sounds.
How much does a dog photo session in Rockland cost?
Sessions start at $195 whether you choose studio or outdoor. That covers your session time and a full gallery of professionally edited images. Wall art, canvas, and framed prints are available after your session. Most Rockland-area clients invest between $800–$1,500 (~$1,200 average) in finished artwork for their home.
My dog is reactive — will a Rockland studio session work?
A studio session can be ideal for reactive dogs. There are no surprise encounters with other dogs, cyclists, or off-leash dogs. The environment is entirely predictable. For reactive dogs who also do better outdoors, I recommend Wompatuck State Park in Hingham or the conservation land near Norwell — wide sightlines and low foot traffic. Either way, your dog stays on leash and it's removed in editing.

About the Author
Chris McCarthyProfessional Dog Photographer · Rockland, MA · 11+ years experience
I've photographed hundreds of dogs across the South Shore and Greater Boston since 2014 — every breed, size, age, and temperament. My own rescue, Sully, was reactive and anxious when I got him, and working with him every day taught me how to photograph dogs that other photographers find difficult. I specialize in reactive and shy dogs, seniors, and memory sessions — the sessions that matter most and need the most patience.
