Why Cat Sessions Happen in Your Home
Cats are not dogs. They do not tolerate unfamiliar environments the way dogs can, and they do not perform on command. If you take a cat out of their territory — their home, their furniture, their window — you get a cat in survival mode, not portrait mode.
In-home sessions work because your cat is already in charge of their environment. The light from the window they spend every morning in. The chair they have owned for seven years. The spot on the bed where they always sleep. These are the settings where cats are actually themselves — curious, relaxed, expressive.
I arrive, sit low, move slowly, and let your cat decide when the session starts. Some cats are on the camera within five minutes. Others need twenty minutes before they come close. Either is fine — we work at your cat's pace.

How a Cat Portrait Session Works
We Talk
A quick conversation about your cat — their personality, where they spend their time, how they respond to strangers. This shapes everything about how the session goes.
I Arrive Early
I arrive 15–20 minutes before we start shooting. That acclimation time is part of the session — not wasted time. It is when your cat decides I am okay.
Your Cat Leads
We follow your cat through their home. If they want to sit in the window, we work the window. If they want to play, we play. The session is built around what your cat actually does.
Your Gallery
Edited portraits arrive within 5–7 business days. You choose your favorites and we turn them into wall art, prints, or a digital collection.
Senior Cat Portraits
Senior cats are some of the best portrait subjects I photograph. They have stopped performing. They know exactly where they want to be. They have a face full of personality that took years to develop.
If your cat is in their final chapter — slowing down, spending more time in their favorite spot, showing their age — this is exactly the right time for portraits. Not someday. Now, while they are still here and you can see what you have.

Where do cat portrait sessions take place?
Cat portrait sessions happen in your home. Cats are territorial animals — they do their best and most natural behavior in the spaces they already own. Bringing a cat to a studio or an outdoor location creates stress and defensive behavior that makes portraits nearly impossible. By working in your home, we let your cat stay in control, which means we get the real them.
My cat hides from strangers. Can you still get good photos?
Yes. Most cats need 15 to 30 minutes to decide that a quiet stranger sitting on the floor is not a threat. I arrive early, sit low, and let your cat make the first move. The cats who start sessions completely hidden behind the couch often end up being the most expressive subjects by the end. Patience is the most important technique in cat photography.
How much does a cat portrait session cost?
Cat sessions start at $195. That includes your time with Chris and a full gallery of edited images to choose from. Wall art, canvas prints, and framed prints are available after your session — you only order what you love.
How long does a cat session take?
Most cat sessions run 60 to 75 minutes. That includes a 15-to-20-minute acclimation period where I let your cat get comfortable with me before we start. The actual shooting portion is typically 40 to 50 minutes. We wrap before your cat has had enough.
Can you photograph multiple cats?
Yes. Multi-cat households are welcome. We work with each cat individually first, then together. The key is not to rush the together shots — if we force cats into proximity they are not comfortable with, we lose the relaxed natural expression that makes portraits work. We get the individual portraits first and then see what the cats decide to do together.
What if my senior cat has mobility limitations?
Senior cat sessions are adapted entirely around your cat's comfort and ability. If your cat is most comfortable on the bed or a specific chair and does not move around much, we make those spaces work beautifully. Some of the most striking cat portraits happen when a cat is simply resting in their favorite spot in the light from their favorite window.
Multi-Pet Households
If your household has both cats and dogs, we can photograph them — typically in the same session or as two separate shorter sessions. Dogs are photographed outdoors at their preferred location. Cats are photographed at home. We schedule them as one combined visit or book them separately depending on what works for your pets. For dog clients, browse every breed I photograph.
